Where have I been lately?

(Pineapple Beach Club, Antigua -Part 2)

Last week, we talked about how to get to this wonderful, adults-only, all-inclusive resort on the beautiful island of Antigua.  PBC is owned by Elite Island Resorts, which runs 7 all-inclusive resorts (mostly adults-only) – 5 on Antigua, 1 on Barbados, and 1 in Panama.

Did you know that Antigua has 365 beaches, one for each day of the year?  All of the beaches on Antigua are public, however, sections of them where there is a resort are private, and at PBC, there is a Security Guard present 24/7.  The end of the beach where I snorkel has a reef, and that beach area is public – but never crowded.  It’s wonderful to see local families there, mostly on the weekends.

The beach where PBC is located is called Long Bay Beach and this article describes it better than I can:

The pictures are very accurate – the water is so clear and the sand so soft. The recent press about sargassum is accurate, however, PBC has a crew on the beach every morning working hard to remove it from the sand.  It’s a short beach for walking, but you can always go to another beach for that.  We love it because it’s quiet and floating in the “donuts” is so much fun.

Here’s the link to the resort map:(it can be downloaded too!)

The resort is not fancy – and that’s one of the reasons we love it.  It’s pretty without being pristine.  It’s fun without being noisy. The staff are warm and friendly without being in your face. One of our favourite moments upon arrival is when you check in, they recognize that you’re a returning guest and say “Welcome Home”.

Here are some more pics I took this year of the grounds and the plant life I found just walking around.

There’s even an area near the coffee shop where you can visit the Tortoises, and there are at least 2 cats that roam around and visit.  We name the Tortoises Fred, and the Cats are named Spike.

The Rooms at PBC are really comfortable, quiet, and it’s so wonderful to fall asleep listening to the waves crashing onto the beach, along with the sound of chirping of the tree frogs. All of the rooms will have been renovated by the end of 2025.  Beachfront rooms were renovated last Summer, and the difference this year was lovely.  New floors (laminate instead of old tile), fresh paint, new mattresses, and completely new bathrooms – no more old bathtubs…. We now have updated walk-in showers!

The internet in the rooms is incredible – we’re able to work while there including attending video meetings. It’s a little sketchy in the restaurants, and that’s as it should be.  It gives us time to focus on conversation, the view, chatting with the staff, and the food and drink.

Next week, we’ll talk more about PBC’s food and beverage offerings!

Happy Travels!
